S. R. Crockett [Letter: J. Leslie MacCallum]

The Scotsman

Letter to the Editor dated 21 June 1932 from J. Leslie MacCallum, Oakleigh, Boswall Road, Edinburgh. Joins in thanking Sir Herbert Maxwell for his tribute. Recalls hearing Crockett lecture in Dundee under a scheme endowed by Lord Armitstead, chaired by Sir John Leng M.P., on the subject of 'Scottish Humour'; notes Crockett's delivery was not his strongest suit but the lecture was subsequently published in The Contemporary. Notes that Crockett later edited an admirable set of Galt's works which did much to revive interest in Galt.
