Delighted to do story for Cosmopolis; kindly tell how long editor would like; thinks £10 thousand is Watt's figure for 5000 words all over, story under that hardly worth doing; asked Whistler to do lithograph of picture at his expense but owing to death of his wife doesn't know whether done or not; written twice but fear sent to wrong address as had no reply; perhaps Unwin would communicate with him and ask if done lithograph; latest blue cover by far most preferable; intends title to be simply The Grey Man (toute courte), kindly have 'of Auchendryne' taken off both back and side letters; will of course sign LP copies grumbling all time; returns binding case
